How to Hedge in Your Pastor: Repentance

Gracious and Merciful God, I lift up my pastor  ___________ today and thank you that he walks in the light as you are in the light. May you grant him the desire to live in obedience to your laws with a heart for your decrees.

Father, your Word says that there is nothing – nothing – concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. (Mt. 10:26) Reveal to your servant ________ any hidden faults, and bring him unto godly sorrow, which leads to repentance, for your glory. (2 Cor. 7:10) Keep your servant, also from willful sins, that he may walk in the way that leads to life.

Give __________ the courage, I pray, to model confession and find brothers and sisters to live out James 5:16, to find healing and live an open life. May I be one of them, Lord, to build him up and so build up your kingdom.

When my brother _________ sins, I pray for a spirit of forgiveness in your people, O God, that mercy and grace will be his cover. May his mind be always governed by the Spirit, which leads to life and peace. (Rom.8:6) I thank you that in repentance and rest, is your salvation. (Isaiah 30:15)

I loose all the assistance of heaven for ________, when accusations come his way today. May he stand in your grace and know the joy of his salvation, producing fruit in keeping with repentance. (Mt. 3:8) All of this I pray for your glory and your kingdom, Our Everlasting and Great Shepherd.

Amen.
