He does not have a certain amount up there, needing to divide out proportionately to each of His own. He is not sitting with the calculator, budgeting how He might meet your needs. The supply is limitless, His reserves are ever abundant.
Why then, do we say – “they need it more; I should not even ask.”
“I got myself into this. I must get out.”
His storehouses are beyond our counting – His willingness beyond our understanding.
The needs of every man, every animal, every nation can be met with overflowing supply by our One Maker.
“Somehow he will deliver thee, and somewhere he will provide for thee. The quarter from which thy rescue shall arise may be a very unexpected one, but help will assuredly come in thine extremity, and thou shalt magnify the name of the Lord. If men do not feed thee, ravens shall; and if earth yield not wheat, heaven shall drop with manna.” – Charles Spurgeon
We begin to think we must provide all things, as if every penny we touch is not from Him.
So we count. It’s a numbers thing. A + B must equal C.
Or we cannot move forward.
We can freeze in the call of God when we look at the numbers.
And when the numbers don’t add up, our eyes lead our hearts. The word trust becomes heavy again. We’ve been here before.
This is why He does not let the numbers add up every time. Why would you need Him?
“..when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.” – Hosea 13:6
He longs to be on your mind.
In your life. Your seemingly small decisions. So…he gives you big ones. Where you have to lean into Him.For supply you have not in sight. Though you have it, indeed.
Not one hair on your head is unnumbered.
What do you need? Spiritual storehouses are not confined by our understanding. Do you need peace? Wisdom? Physical provision? Details do not matter.
There were seasons of famine in Egypt. Little did people know, the grain was being stored. To meet the greater need they had yet to see.
And Elisha? The prophet with no fear to ask. He proclaimed,
“Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.” 2 Kings 7:1
And the hearer? Responded as we do.
“Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of heaven, could this happen?”
Even if the Lord….
The Lord of heaven and earth. The Alpha and Omega. The star-breather. Could this happen?
Could He, might He, will He?
And we are left with the first question all others lead to.
Is God who He says He is?
You do what you know to do. You keep going. And you keep asking. But you stop counting all the ways the world seems against you. He is for you. He is the gatekeeper…of the largest stockpile ever accumulated.
You say YES when you know it’s the only right answer in your Spirit. He will provide.
You say Nothing when your mind wants to give voice to your doubts. Instead, together we proclaim, “Our God shall supply all our needs according to HIS RICHES in CHRIST JESUS.”
